Four Saints Brewing is a great spot to go out for a drink. The atmosphere is casual and enjoyable. There is plenty of seating for small or large groups. Some days there is live music, other days there is trivia. And the beer is always fantastic. The staff at Four Saints Brewing is very knowledgeable and friendly. Snack style food is available here, as well.

2. The Table

The Table is arguably one of the chicest places in the heart of Asheboro. This bakery and restaurant keeps the city close to its heart and strives to live by to their interpretation of tables, which they recognize as a place for acceptance and sharing. If you happen to visit The Table, a few of their best breakfast selection are buttermilk pancakes, breakfast naan, and smoked salmon bagel. 3. North Carolina Zoo
The first in Asheboro’s points of interest is North Carolina Zoo, which is located just south of the city, in the Uwharrie Mountains. It is the largest “natural habitat” zoo in the country. Thus, the animals are given large spaces that are very similar to their natural habitats, instead of the typical cages that are often seen in zoos. The zoo is a great spot for kids, as there are many special areas and activities for children. The walking path is designed nicely, to move throughout the zoo, for easy viewing of all the exhibits.
Be prepared for lots of walking! There are many animals to see. Often on weekends, the zoo has events for guests, so be sure to look at the website to see what events are going on at any given time. The North Carolina Zoo is open to visitors any day of the week, except for Christmas.

4. N.C. Aviation Museum
The North Carolina Aviation Museum is an interesting look at the history of flight. Here, visitors will have the chance to view old planes and war memorabilia. The exhibits share various stories, reaching all the way back to the very beginning of flight. Flight 1549, the US Airways Airbus A320, which made a miraculous emergency landing on the Hudson River, is also preserved here. A Boeing 727 is available for visitors to feel what it would be like to pilot such an aircraft. The Aviation Museum is one of the top places to visit in Asheboro, allowing its visitors to read many interesting stories about aviation history and view some cool planes.

5. Sunny Slopes Farm

Sunny Slopes Farm is a 220-acre (89 hectare) working farm, that offers fun educational activities for visitors. There are typical farm animals, such as cattle, chicken and sheep and more unusual creatures such as bison, pheasants, llamas and fainting goats. A visit to the farm is about more than just seeing the animals, though. Here, visitors will learn about the importance of agriculture and its effects on our everyday life. Visitors also have the chance to take a hayride, which will take them up a mountain where they can see views of Asheboro and beyond. Along the way, explanations about all the animals on the farm will be provided.

6. American Classic Motorcycle Museum
The American Classic Motorcycle Museum is a rather small museum, that sits above a diner. But inside you will find a vast array of information on motorcycle history, along with some very old, original bikes. It contains the largest private collection of antique Harley Davidson motorcycles in the country. Definitely a great spot for motorcycle lovers, and worth a look for anyone. Entrance is free. A visit to the American Classic Motorcycle Museum should be paired, if at all possible, with a meal at the diner below!

7. Pisgah Covered Bridge
Joining Asheboro’s tourist attractions is Pisgah Covered Bridge, which was built in 1911, for a sum of about 40 USD. It is one of only two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina. The bridge is within the Uwharrie National Forest, crossing 54 feet (16.5 meters) over the West Fork Branch of the Little River. It is historic, beautiful and a connection to the past when automobile travel was just beginning and horse and buggy were the most common form of travel. It is a beautiful place to walk and admire.

8. Bicentennial Park
Bicentennial Park is a small, one-acre (.4-hectare) grassy park in the city center, popular for concerts and events. There are picnic tables, a fountain, outdoor sculptures, and a pavilion. There are sidewalks and benches for those interested in walking and relaxing. Parking is free and plentiful at the park. Pets are allowed and it is handicap accessible. One downside, restrooms are only here during events. As it is a popular location for events, be sure to take a look at the listings, especially in the summer, to see what’s going on. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to relax during the concerts and open air movie showings.

9. North Asheboro Park
North Asheboro Park is 26 acres (10.5 hectares) of pure park. There is a public swimming pool, disc golf course, baseball field, paved walking trails and a playground. It is a great spot for the whole family, as there is plenty to do for all ages. Free parking is available for visitors and the park is handicap accessible. For those who are interesting in sports, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, and a lighted basketball court are all available at the park. There is even a horseshoe pit.
North Asheboro Park is great for picnics too, as there is a covered picnic area. Restrooms are available at here as well, though they are closed during the winter months.

10. Birkhead Mountains Wilderness
Sitting at the northern part of Uwharrie Mountains is Birkhead Mountains Wilderness. If you are in Asheboro for a nature trip, then this is a place you do not want to miss out on. The mountains have been listed in the North Carolina Wilderness Act of 1984. The wilderness has numerous hiking trails and is open to the public, and one of its main goals is to create awareness on the preservation of natural resources. Keep in mind that the wilderness is protected federal land, and no other means of movement (except your feet, of course!) is allowed in the area.

11. Collector's Antique Mall

Antiquing seems to be a really popular activity in the Southern United States. Whether or not that is because of its rich history, we cannot really tell! Nevertheless, going into antique shops brings a sense of nostalgia, and that’s always a welcome thought. If you are into antiques, do drop by Collector’s Antique Mall. When you need a place to wind down in Asheboro, there’s no need to look far! The Flying Pig Food & Spirits is a bar and grill on Sunset Avenue, like a lot of the places listed here. Although they do serve chicken wings, the most intriguing among their appetizers is pig wings! That’s something you won’t find elsewhere, for sure. According to their menu, pig wings are perfectly tender pork shanks slathered with barbecue sauce. Who doesn’t like the sound of that?
