If you’re an aspiring geologist or a rock and mineral enthusiast, then Nature’s Gallery is the place to go in Carrolton, TX, especially since the shop boldly states that it’s the “only full-service rock shop in the Dallas - Fort Worth area”.

Elm Fork Nature Preserve is a 40-acre (16.1-hectare) nature preserve that guarantees birdwatchers and nature lovers a great treat and a fun but free thing to do in Carrolton, TX. The preserve protects a wide variety of animals including raccoons, fox squirrels, beavers, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, woodpeckers, cardinals, and many more.

To further this point, the nature preserve has a 1.3 km (0.8 mi) nature trail that has been rated as an easy route. This trail allows visitors to go for a short stroll around the preserve and enjoy the sights and sounds of these magnificent creatures.

W.J. Thomas Splash Pad is a great place to take your kids if they’re in the mood to have some fun in the water or simply want to cool off the summer heat. This simple yet wonderful Carrollton attraction features a number of amenities to make sure your visit is worthwhile.

These amenities include shaded areas, various tables, a number of grills, and a deck. Do note that these amenities are on a “first come, first serve” basis. There is also a tennis court and soccer field right next to the water park where you and your kids can play some fun outdoor games.

Just a 12-minute drive away from Carrollton, in the small town of Addison, you will find the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Home to beautifully restored aircrafts, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum is a unique place and a must-see if you’re in the area. You can even see aircrafts from World War I and II, all restored and in perfect condition. The collection is pretty unique and also includes aircrafts from the Vietnam War, the Korean War, and 3 civilian aircrafts, including the first one from the museum. Visitors can also take a ride in few of them, if requested in advance.

The Rosemeade Recreation Center currently has 2 gyms, 4 racquetball courts, volleyball and basketball courts, a game room, refreshment areas, and a dance floor for classes. The Recreation Center is located inside Rosemeade Park, so there are plenty to do outdoors too in the surrounding areas.
