High Point City Lake Park provides a great place to spend the afternoon with your family. It offers a miniature train ride, a merry-go-round (adults can ride both), and a 30-passenger boat ride. The park also has an 18-hole miniature golf course and is open for activities such as boating and fishing. If you want to enjoy a simple picnic with your loved ones, picnic shelters are available too.

4. Snap a photo of the World’s Largest Chest of Drawers

You can’t say you’ve been to High Point without getting a photo of the World’s Largest Chest of Drawers (also known as the Bureau of Information). This landmark represents the area’s strong furniture industry. It was built to call attention to the city as the Home Furnishings Capital of the World. This 10.8-meter (36-foot) chest of drawers is unmissable. Two large socks hang from the drawers as a nod to the area’s hosiery industry, and miniature replicas of the chest can be found all throughout the city.

At Bernice Bienstock Furniture Library, there are more than 5,000 furniture and design-specific volumes, along with rare books that include volumes published in 1640. It also contains a collection of the original works of 18th-century furniture masters Chippendale, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite, as well as a complete 26-volume set of Diderot’s Encyclopedia published in 1776. At the Museum of Old Domestic Life, you can have a glimpse of what it would be like to live in the 19th century.
