When the days are getting hot it’s nice to have a place to go splash in cool water for a little bit. Hoffman Estates has that special place too. In Seascape Family Aquatic Centre you can find many interesting attractions for children of all ages, as well as for adults.

Some of them are the Diving Area, for the brave jumpers; Sand Play Area, where you can build sand castles like on a real beach; Zero Depth Entry, perfect for toddlers; water slides, of course, as well as the Volleyball Course. Have you ever seen an elk? The one that looks like big deer? They’re pretty common in Wyoming and Colorado, but not so much in Illinois.

But it doesn’t mean you cannot find them there at all. Busse Forest Elk Pasture lies just 13 minutes outside Hoffman Estate and gives you the opportunity to get a closer look at those majestic animals. There are a couple of trees that provide a shadow to sit down, eat a snack and enjoy watching the wild herd. I bet kids will also enjoy that interesting show. There are plenty of parking spots outside the pasture.

Crabtree Nature Center lies in the northwest part of Cook County, 6 miles (9 kilometers) north from Hoffman Estates. The whole landscape was formed by a moving glacier. Almost 800 hectares (2,000 acres) of woodland and wetland is a perfect stop for migrating birds so you should have a nice opportunity for spotting some interesting species. Also, many of spring flowers cover the land in the season, so it’s a good place to take some amazing photos.
