2. Historical Latta Plantation

The Historical Latta Plantation is your go-to place to learn about the history of North Carolina and its past. Tour the Latta Plantation house and see the rooms, filled with history, while learning about the Civil War and the abolition of slavery in the south. Admission is 8 USD for adults, 7 USD for senior citizens and students, and children under 5 years old are free! Tours are on the hour, from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm.

If you want to spend the full day at Latta Plantation, there is a wonderful hike you can do up to the Buzzard Rock Nature Preserve. Approximately 3.1 miles (5 kilometers), this hike is perfect if you want to enjoy the view but also be home in time for dinner, as the hike takes only approximately 1.5 hours and leads you to the beautiful vistas that can be seen from Buzzard Rock. Don’t forget your hiking shoes!
