Alicante is getting more and more popular as a destination for summer holidays, on the Spanish coast and the little town of Altea, in Alicante province, is catching tourist attention. Why is that? Well, you are about to find out! To begin with, this is a place where the economy is mostly based on tourism. Its good weather and beautiful coastline contrasts with the old cobblestone streets and ancient houses to give this town a charm like no other.
Take a look at the different attractions of Altea and add it to your “must-visit” list.
1. The beaches - The main reason to visit a beach town
If you are planning a visit to Altea, you have probably heard about its amazing beaches. To be more precise, the Altea coast has more than 5 km (3.1 miles) of beaches and even though they can be touristy, the scenery is not ruined by the presence of humans. If you are looking for the most accessible beaches, Playa de Cap Blanch and Playa de la Roda are the closest to town and perfect for people who love walking on a long stretch of beach.
Don’t expect perfect weather, every day because that is harder to get, but you will surely find the peace of mind you are looking to achieve during your summer vacation.

2. The Old Town - Where the magic started
The old town of Altea is very well preserved and you can enjoy a long walk along the cobblestone streets, taking pictures of the old houses, mostly in blue and white. If you are interested in making it more of a cultural tour, you can make the most of the Old Town by visiting some of its attractions, like the “Plaza de la Iglesia”, or the church square, lined with restaurants and bars or the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, also known as La Mare de Déu del Consol (Our Lady of Solace).
You can also stop by the “Cronistas de España” viewpoint, to appreciate the sunset from the best spot in the city. And afterwards, to start the night in the best way possible, you can have a drink in the traditional bar, La Mascarada.
In the Old Town, you have everything you need to spend a different day in your life.
