From beaches to galleries, to restaurants, vineyards, and parks, Apex has so much to offer. The town is also known for its festivals wherein different types of art are showcased and featured. But more than just a charming community, Time Magazine also claims that Apex has high-paying tech-industry jobs that help make the quality of life there second to none.

The American Tobacco Trail is an open recreational rail-trail open to everyone who loves to have fun and do outdoor activities! American Tobacco Trail is a 22.6 mile (36.37 km) long Rails-to-Trails project situated in the Research Triangle. In a park this long, a lot of activities can actually be done which is also featured such as hiking, biking, equestrian trails, the classic picnic, environmental education, cultural exhibits, and educational gardens. It definitely is a perfect place for everyone who either wants to enjoy the view and their company or those who want to have fun and do physical activities.

2. Cloer Family Vineyards

Cloer Family Vineyards is not just your typical vineyard that focuses on wine. In this vineyard you will find cows and sheep randomly roaming, chickens clucking, and scenic ponds. The Cloer Family Vineyards is owned by a lovely couple, Tam and Pam, who envision their vineyard to have a warm, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere that their guests can enjoy.

Aside from having animals in their vineyard, they also grow their own grapes and produce their own wine on site! Tam mainly manages the vineyard and Pam and their two daughters help in other duties such as harvesting, bottling, labeling, marketing, sales, and a lot more on the list!

At the vineyard, they offer different experiences to their guests such as wine tastings, tours, private events, and the purchasing of wine. Their wine tasting only costs 5 USD, which includes all five wines and is available any time during their operating hours. They are open every Friday from 12 noon to 5 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm.

For all the beer lovers out there, Brueprint Brewing Company is the perfect place for you to chill out and enjoy their handcrafted brewery! Brueprint Brewing Company is the first ever handcrafted brewery in Apex, North Carolina, and it was established by Eric Wagner, an engineering expert and a gourmet food enthusiast, and his family. The company’s main goal for its customers is for them to put down their phones and have real conversations and spend a great time with the people they are with.

Brueprint offers different types of beers and alcoholic drinks and some of their drinks are: Pale Brue Eyes, Brue Scarlet, Bruenette Brown Ale, Edinbrue Scotch Brown Ale, Brue Diamond IPA, and Zambrueni. All beers have a different percentage of alcohol and a unique twist. They also sell kegs and growlers for bigger gatherings and parties. They are open every day: weekdays starting at 4 pm and weekends starting at noon.

For all the beach bums out there who are either looking for a day trip to get away from the the daily stress in life or the families who want to spend quality time with their loved one, Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is the place for you.

More than 1,000 campsites among five of the access areas offer a range of outdoor activities you will never forget. It also includes seven beaches for swimming, boating ramps, hiking trails, and a lot more! Another reason why this place is a must-see is because of the their Bald Eagles and Osprey which you may spot when you come here.

One of the coziest places you’ll come across in Apex is The Rusty Bucket. Established by Pam and Mack Thorpe, this is a cool find where you can spot all types of decor that bring coziness to your home such as antiques, folk art, candles, warmers, lighting, wall art by Billy Jacobs, tinware, stitchery and dolls, barn stars, birdhouses, horsehair pottery, handcrafted jewelry, wingback chairs, and a lot more that will definitely bring some life into your house!

The owners of the shop are the ones in charge of looking for “the unique, the incredible, and the inspiring” treasures during their monthly trips. Customers love going here because of the different finds they see which are all very lovely.

7. Cocoon Gallery


Relatively new in Apex, North Carolina, Cocoon Gallery showcases functional art including ceramics, carvings, jewelry, glass, metal, and textiles all created by over 30 Carolina artisans. Cocoon Gallery opened in April 2017 and is owned by Cynthia Mollenkopf, a textile artist herself. Cynthia creates functional and decorative felted artworks and showcases it in galleries and festivals, as well as sells her artwork.

Cocoon Gallery hosts several exhibits, classes, meet and greets, and demos with their artists every month. Aside from those, they also have a restaurant inside so either before or after exploring the gallery, you may dine in their restaurant.
