Bandera is a city located in Texas that is full of amazing surprises. Those who are familiar with this place best know it as the “Cowboy Capital of the World”. Bandera is home to the famous Frontier Times Museum, which was founded by J. Marvin Hunter. This vibrant destination is located on the Medina River, to the northwest of San Antonio’s city center. Each June, the city hosts Bandera Riverfest, an event that takes place on the Medina River, where locals and tourists come to enjoy live music, cook-offs, tubing, and kayaking. This place is also home to Dixie Dude Ranch and Mayan Dude Ranch, both of which are approximately 50 years old. For those who love the outdoors and nature, there are two ultramarathons held here: Cactus Rose 100-mile endurance run and Bandera 100K trail run - they are held within the rugged Hill County State Natural Area. Flying A Ranch is a 9000-acre (3642-hectare) ranch that offers a variety of animals for bowhunters and regular hunters like whitetail deer and red deer. Although you’re not guaranteed a successful hunt, the ranch offers all hunters multiple opportunities to bag their chosen prey throughout their stay.

The Lodge on San Julian Creek is also located in the ranch if you need a place to stay. The lodgings consist of limestone rock cottages that overlook the San Julian Creek and the surrounding woodland. These cottages are great places to relax after a long hunt.
