Composed of 292 acres (118 hectares) of forest, ponds, and wetlands, Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve offers a serene place for you to enjoy nature while walking through its 3.5-mile (5.6-kilometer) trails. These trails offer you the chance to see various wildlife living in the preserve like white-tailed deer, beavers, waterfowls, red-tailed hawks, pileated woodpeckers, and great blue herons.
You can rent snowshoes and ski equipment to use on the trails. There are also several public programs and events that the nature preserve hosts, all of which are free of charge.

Railroad buffs are in for a treat with this 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) trail. Built right next to an active rail line that was used by railroads in the past to haul coal from Pennsylvania, this trail offers you not only a great place to go for a walk or jog but also a nice view of the various neighborhoods and parks while you’re trekking through the trail.
There are various ways to enter the trail and there are even dedicated parking slots located on Ludwig Avenue, St. Felix Avenue, and Stradtman Street.
