Kingsville is named after Richard King who essentially formed the city of Kingsville. Owner and founder of the legendary King Ranch, the ranch itself is the largest in the state and is one of the largest in the country. King Ranch is over 825,000 acres (333865.6 hectares). It is the absolutely biggest ranch in the whole state and is also a National Historic Landmark. King Ranch is bigger than the state of Rhode Island and was even featured in several works of fiction as King Ranch has a sort of mythological presence in the history of Texas.
