13. Dwarf Car Museum

From the mind of Ernie Adams comes the Dwarf Car Museum, home of dwarf race cars and scaled down replicas of classic cars. Starting in grade school, Adams began designing the cars that he admired for school assignments, going so far as to build a wooden car the length of a crate box that his mother pulled throughout his hometown of Harvard, Nebraska. Finally, in 1965, his dream became reality with the construction of a mini ’28 Chevy two-door sedan from nine old refrigerators. Known as “GRANDPA DWARF” today, the original little car is kept in running condition for visitors of the museum to see.

Adam’s critique of motorcycle side hack races in Phoenix lead to the construction of Dwarf Race Cars and the famous races were born. Today, his race cars are street legal, ready to race, and on display for car-enthusiasts and oddity explorers alike.
