The Germantown Colony Museum is a relic of the original rustic homes of the first German settlers in this isolated area in Northern Louisiana near the Interstate 20. The first families still live close by with the original buildings and a cemetery still present on the property.

The building it currently occupies was formerly the 1950s Joy Theater.
