Here’s what to do in Payson during your trip! This place may not be the hometown of Western author Zane Grey, having been born in Ohio, but he remains one of the most celebrated individuals of the town because he regularly vacationed there, largely to do some bear hunting. In fact, roughly half of the novels he has written are set in Arizona. Learn more about the author at the Rim Country Museum and at the Zane Grey Cabin, where he stayed during his holidays. While the original structure was razed by the Dude Fire in 1990, it was rebuilt to resemble the original.
