7. Stop by Desert Wells Stage Stop
The Desert Wells Stage Stop is the site of a stagecoach watering hole which was used between 1868 to 1916. The ruins of the Desert Wells Stage Stop are located just north of Chandler Heights Road on the east side of Sossaman Road. The building was 10 sq ft (0.9 sq m) and was made of rock and mud, containing a 4 ft (1.2 m) tall door and slits for windows. The stop is listed as historical by the San Tan Historical Society and provided water, shade, and protection for stages from Florence via Olberg and on to Mesa.
