Safety and child friendliness is a huge priority here – they sort slides by wristband color according to height and require a swim test for children to use some of the more advanced play areas. The McNeil Bridge Bats are the less famous cousins of the South Congress Bridge Bats. While this is a much smaller Mexico free-tailed bat colony, there are still nearly a half million bats that take flight every evening during the summer, to consume 20-30 thousand pounds of insects. Visitors can come with blankets and chairs around dusk to see these bats emerge and begin their aerial feeding frenzy.

Round Rock Donuts has been delighting customers since 1926. These signature donuts originate from a bread-like dough and cannot be machine made. Each donut is hand-rolled, cut, fried, and iced. Their signature yellow-orange color comes from the use of fresh eggs. They only make 200 of these on their busiest days, but do not worry – they have plenty of other goodies to choose from. Visitors can order a Texas-sized donut, cake donut, apple fritter, éclair, kolache, and more.

With 3 generations, 50 years of experience, and recipes dating back to the 1800s, it’s no wonder that Salt Lick BBQ has some of the best tasting BBQ in the country. Their original location in Driftwood is a little bit out-of-the-way (which did not stop lines from forming down the block), so they recently opened a second location in Round Rock. If you want authentic, delicious, mouth-watering Texas BBQ, this is the place to go.
