Are you ready to have your breath taken away by one of the most beautiful ecological parks? If you are, head over to Chipinque Ecological Park for a picturesque, bird’s-eye view of the city from the mountaintop. It is about a three-hour hike to the peak, but if you feel like you are not up for the challenge, you can simply stay to enjoy a picnic and listen to the sounds of the singing birds. As it is home to at least 12 different types of flora and wild animals, you might spot some if you are lucky! Some weekends, there are events where you will find handicrafts for sale as well as food stalls. Dance performances and outdoor movie screenings are also sometimes held here. The park is easily accessible by bus, car, or taxi.

Want a chance to unleash your inner nerd? Or are you wracking your brain for the perfect place that has activities to keep your children entertained while you take a moment to yourself? Alfa Planetarium is full of interactive games and activities, including an IMAX Theatre with amazing movies and interesting documentaries. Just before you enter the building, there is a large garden where peacocks roam freely. These peacocks are friendly enough to approach for photographs. There is also an aviary - the first in Monterrey and the first in the country to be dedicated to the reproduction of birds. Set aside about three hours for this place if you plan to visit, or prepare to spend five to six hours if you intend to leave no stone unturned. 9. Visit the historic Capilla de Doña Mónica Rodríguez


This historic landmark dates all the way back to 1661, making it the oldest church building in all of Nuevo Leon. In fact, it was the first chapel ever constructed in the state. It was previously called “Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe” which translates to “Our Lady of Guadalupe”. Although it is not well-preserved, the immense history that this infrastructure carries is definitely worth the trip. After your visit, you can drop by one of the nearby cafes or restaurants for a good meal.
