2. Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center

The Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center is a historical house, built in 1890 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The childhood home of the writer Katherine Anne Porter, the house was renovated and converted into a museum in honor of her. Porter’s books are kept here, and so the place is a popular literary center. I recommend a stop at this house if you are a fan of Porter’s work.

Here, the owner always keeps an eye on the customers and if he feels any customer isn’t satisfied, he personally goes over to listen to their problem and tries to resolve it. The lake also plays host to a big hot air balloon festival and it’s a must-visit place when stopping in Kyle.

Kyle Market Days take place from April through September, on the second Saturday of each month and it is a great place to meet local people and buy local, fresh fruits and vegetables.
