Lisle, Illinois is a village in the Chicago metropolitan area with a population of about 21,000 people. What Lisle may lack in population size, it makes up for in attractions. Lisle was permanently settled in 1832 at the end of the Black Hawk War. The tiny settlement grew and grew.

Now major corporations, such as Millward Brown, have their headquarters there. Lisle is more than just a corporate center though. 1. The Museums at Lisle Station Park

The Museums at Lisle Station Park let visitors experience life in 19th-century northwestern Illinois. Visitors can walk around and tour Beaubien Tavern, a 19th-century tavern and tollhouse, Burlington Waycar, an 1881 railroad caboose, Lisle Depot, a depot built in 1874 to 1875, Blacksmith Shop, a reproduction of a 19th-century blacksmith shop, and the Netzley/Yender Farmhouse. Special events and blacksmith classes are held year round. Curator hours are Labor Day through Memorial Day on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Museum admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

2. Morton Arboretum

The Morton Arboretum is a 680-hectare (1,700-acre) public garden in Lisle, Illinois. It includes hiking trails, roads for driving and bicycling, a 1.6-hectare (4-acre) children’s garden, and a 0.4-hectare (1-acre) maze. It is one of the largest restored prairies in the Chicago area.

It offers educational programs for all groups and ages and has a program for tree research. Admissions are 14 USD for adults 18 to 64, 12 USD for seniors 65 and up, and 9 USD for youth ages 2 to 17 with discounts on Wednesdays. Please leave your pets at home, except on designated days. The arboretum is open 365 days a year from 7 a.m. to sunset. The different parts of the arboretum open and close at different times.

3. Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum

The Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum is on the second floor of the Micheal and Kay Brick Hall of Science at Benedictine University. Three monks who used to teach at the university began to collect specimens to help teach their students. Their assortment of specimens was gathered and put into the museum. The museum is free and open to the public. Summer hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

4. Four Lakes Ski Hill

Four Lakes Ski Hill is an area for skiers and snowboarders. There are summer activities there as well, including a pool, volleyball league, and other special events. The hill features beginning through advanced level snowboard runs. There is gear rental, snowboard and ski rental, as well as lessons available and slope tickets. During the season, Four Lakes is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

5. Chicago Redstars NWSL Soccer

The Chicago Redstars is a women’s professional soccer club. The team was a founding member of women’s professional soccer. The Chicago Redstars play at Toyota Park in Bridgeview IL, a 20,000 seat soccer stadium, right outside Lisle.

Tickets can be purchased online in single games, three-game packs, and season tickets or with group rates. The stadium is handicap accessible. More information on directions and parking can be found on the Redstars website.

The Bulls/Sox Training Academy is the official youth training camp of the Chicago Bulls and White Sox. The training academy creates a fun and safe environment for participants to develop their character and athletic ability. The academy offers training in baseball, basketball, and fastpitch.

The Academy provides year-round camps, training, clinics and private lessons. Information on scholarships and community outreach can be found on their website. The coaches and staff are specially trained to help young athletes become elite. To register for camps, go online. The training academy is the only youth training facility owned by either an NBA or MLB team in the continental USA.

7. Escape Story


Write your own dramatic story of how you escaped a secret room using your wit. At Escape Story, you can book your own scenario. You and other guests will have 60 minutes to solve a series of themed puzzles to unlock the door to freedom.

Visitors can choose between a Sherlock Holmes mystery or an Area 51 (alien) themed game. Book your times and rooms in advance. Each person booking a room is 28 USD per person. Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Groups under six people will be put in a room with other groups.
