"World's Greatest Sundial" Pekin, IL
Posted by Amy Drefke on Wednesday, 5 August 2009
One of the most unique attractions in town is the Pekin sundial. Known as the World’s Greatest Sundial, the attraction was built by Henry Cakora in the Sunken Gardens of Mineral Springs Park and is actually a combination of three different sundials. Together, the sundials tell the time and date, as well as the sun’s position and other facts. While the sundial may not be the largest or tallest in the world, residents claim that the burnished steel structure is the most accurate.
