While Port Saint Lucie beaches are fairly standard to Florida, the area also offers a type of Florida environment that some may not be familiar with. Savannas Preserve State Park is a glimpse of the freshwater marshes that once extended throughout all of Florida’s southeast coast. Currently, the park includes 10 miles (16 km) of savannas and trails for biking, hiking, and horseback riding along with areas for picnicking, canoeing and kayaking and wildlife viewing.
