Vegan Love, located on the Buda side of the river, is serving up the freshest vegan street food in Budapest. If you’re craving a fully loaded hot dog or even a Philly Cheese Steak, Vegan Love has a vegan alternative sure to impress even the carnivores among us. But if you’re looking for lighter fare, Vegan Love offers smoothies and a salad bar in addition to cheese burgers the size of your head. This is a great budget friendly option and just about everything can be made gluten-free. It’s also just around the corner from Gellert Hotel and Thermal Bath, so it’s the perfect place to grab a healthy bite after a relaxing day at the baths and spa.

Nemsüti is a vegetarian sandwich shop located in District XIII, near Freedom Square and not too far from the Basilica. Although they began by serving sandwiches and salads, they have expanded their menu recently and offer an ever changing array of hot meals. Come to Nemsüti for an ultra-fast, but filling filling veg meal. If you’re feeling too lazy to leave your hotel, Nemsüti also offers a vegetarian delivery service.

7. CsendesM Vegan Bistro

CsendesM is located in District V, not far from the National Museum. The owners are truly dedicated to sustainability. Everything at CsendesM is free of animal products, additives, and preservatives, while all packaging is 100% biodegradable. Most items on the menu can be made gluten-free and the meals are so delicious you won’t miss meat at all (cauliflower alfredo anyone?). This is probably the least expensive restaurant on this list; you can get a filling meal for less than 3 USD, making it a great option for those traveling on a budget.

DOBRUMBA is a popular Middle Eastern restaurant in the Jewish District near the Great Synangogue. Although they serve meat, they have an abundance of vegan and vegetarian options. Stop here for some of the best Middle Eastern food in Budapest, great decor, and delicious dessert. Don’t forget to try their muhammara (red pepper spread). Reservations are sometimes necessary.
