Literally just outside Rialto Bridge, Pensione Guerrato is ridiculously convenient to get around Venice and offers classically furnished rooms with air conditioning and private bathrooms, as well as apartments set within a 15-minute walk from the main building. The Locanda Silva is a small, cosy hotel managed by the wonderful Perut family and located right in the heart of Venice, near Saint Mark’s Square. If you wake up in the morning, you can just skip on over and find yourself right in the city centre! 3. Casa Sant'Andrea (from USD 181)
Casa Sant'Andrea is a former monastery that was renovated and underwent quite the transformation, now looking rather much like a Venetian Palace. It overlooks Santa Chiara canal, close to Piazzale Roma, and you can walk right over to Santa Lucia Train Station to use the nearby water-bus stop to visit the rest of Venice. Rooms here are perfectly functional and very comfortable, with a couple of en suites amongst the shared bathrooms. We Crociferi has a bar and a 24 hour reception, and mostly features dormitories, but also has a few private rooms and apartments right in central Venice. Set in the Cannaregio district, Hotel Leonardo is just an 8-minute walk from Venezia Santa Lucia Train Station, while the Jewish Ghetto and San Marcuola Vaporetto Stop is literally a stone’s throw away. Although not precisely on Venice itself, it’s actually on the island of St. Erasmo, but it does offer up a private garden with spectacular views of Venice Lagoon. All have free Wifi and a private bathroom, and if you do want to get to Murano or Venice, a water bus stop (10 minutes away) will take you there within 30 minutes, while there are free bikes that can be used to travel around.
Simply furnished and functional, this is a good place to stay away from the tourist centre and good value for money, especially if you come in groups. Not to mention, the restaurant is open for dinner and serves a la carte Venetian dishes too!
