Popularly called the “Mother City,” Cape Town is a pretty, fascinating, and unique destination in South Africa. It is separate from the entire African continent because of the ring of mountains bordering it. The rolling vineyards and spectacular beaches further bring this city to life. Nonetheless, Table Mountain remains to be the city’s most symbolic natural wonder, attracting millions of tourists and photographers. Table Mountain National Park protects this beautiful natural formation, as well as thousands of flower species and different wildlife. Moreover, the famous Lion’s Head lies on the western part of the national park. A trip here is incomplete without hitting at least one of the local beaches, so check out these best beach resorts in Cape Town, South Africa.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and access to beach. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on April 11, 2024.

Table Mountain Table Mountain Table Mountain

No visit to Cape Town is complete without a trip up Table Mountain, so make sure you journey up from this hotel. You can hike or take the cable car. My top tips are:

Buy tickets either for the morning or afternoon for the cable car online in advance. I would strongly recommend booking the afternoon slot so you can watch the sunset! But once the sun goes down, there is a mad scramble for the cable car, and it gets very cold very quickly.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast because the cable car has to close in high winds (which occur often in Cape Town). Try to choose a day with high visibility and low winds.

Make sure you arrive early, as the queues for the cable car can be quite long.
