Córdoba is a Southern Spain city located in the country’s Andalusia region. It was also an important Roman city settlement during the eighth century and indeed, throughout Roman rule. Later, it became a hub for Islamic culture. It contains many important Byzantine and Moorish relics from the Middle Ages. By the 10th century, it had become Europe’s second-largest city. Today, Córdoba, which enjoys mild winters and dry summers, is a living piece of history with charming UNESCO-protected private patios, Muslim-Catholic cathedrals with distinctly Moorish architecture and Christian influences, as well as opulent 15th-century gardens that have survived to this day. There are stunning places to stay here. If you would like an indulgent stay, you can book a room in one of the hotels with a spa. For a more enriching travel experience, you must explore the nearby places as well. Browse through the best day trips from Córdoba, Spain.

A day trip from Córdoba to Seville promises a great time. About a two-hour drive from Córdoba lies Andalusia’s capital city, Seville, Spain. Seville’s Moorish heritage is evident everywhere you look - from colourful hand-painted tiles that decorate buildings around town, the gracefully arched entryways, to the famous Giralda Tower that was once an Islamic prayer minaret. A landmark is the former mosque that was converted into the Seville Cathedral. Seville’s Moorish roots come to play again with the Court of the Orange Trees, where Muslim devotees once performed their ablutions. This World Heritage Site also contains the tomb of Christopher Columbus, the legendary European explorer. When in Seville, a must-try is the calentitos de rueda, churros-like fritters that are served with thick chocolate for dipping. One of the best places for this snack is Velarde y Borromeo, a family-run stand beloved by locals.

In Seville, take time to wander through the charming Plaza España, my favorite attraction. Also be sure to witness the awe-inspiring architecture of the Real Alcázar, a must-visit when exploring this captivating city.

Seville’s weather is great throughout the year, but spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) are ideal. Avoid the summer months as it gets really hot!
