As you'll be staying close to the Messe Berlin exhibition grounds, take a few minutes to appreciate the dark but beautiful art in the famous underpass of Messe Berlin. You should also check out the sci-fi aesthetics of the neighboring Internationales Congress Centrum (ICC) Berlin. The huge building was designed by architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Witte-Schüler and was completed in 1979. It's said to have been the 'answer' to East Berlin's Palast der Republik. But the design became a wonderful monument to the way the future was perceived at the time. If, like me, you loved the golden age of science fiction, you will certainly like this building. Just don't touch the asbestos walls!
