After spending some time in Bali, normally, people like to get tanned from the sun. Nevertheless, how would you be able to get something healthier than a tan, weight loss for example? For a healthy retreat, I would suggest that you to stay at Ubud Sari Health Resort in Ubud and participate in one of their health programs, which can boost your health and well-being, while leaving you feeling rejuvenated and energized!

A resort In a peaceful garden setting

Just a several-minute walk from the busy and crowded downtown Ubud, is the serene Ubud Sari Health Resort; away from the hustle bustle of the city. The resort is set in the impeccably-laid-out Balinese garden, with authentic Balinese architectures (e.g. mini shrines and statues of Balinese Gods), a flowing small river with waterfalls, fish ponds, and many tropical plants of different shapes and colors. There are many spots where you can sit, read a book, or relax while enjoying the surroundings. You’ll also notice many colorful butterflies flying around the garden.

Eat healthy everyday

This is not just a health resort, and infact you’ll find many things are offered other than just a hotel room. In fact there are several different rejuvenating treatment programs to choose from. The programs vary from the 1-day ‘Raw Food & Beauty Introduction’ to the 2-week ‘Total Revitalization Retreat’, but all of them have similar approaches that include daily vegetarian meals and juices containing raw fruits and vegetables. Most people who have participated in the longer retreats have lost more than 5-kg (11 lbs) of weight after only 6 days!

Healthy programs for your body, mind & soul

Upon your arrival, you will get the complimentary ginger and lemongrass tea, and you will be given the detailed schedule of what you will be doing in the coming days. This schedule will have information like what time you will have meals, yoga sessions, sauna, massages, etc. You won’t have access to a TV, your smartphone, or the internet during the first 2 days! Everything will be done and instructed by doctors and professional therapists. Most programs include the daily 2-hour sunrise walk at 6 o’clock through a little forest and paddy fields You’ll also indulge in all sorts of activities, such as yoga sessions, reflexology (a healthy way to promote your health, but ouch, it hurt on my soles!), colonic hydrotherapy (it’s a high-tech way to empty your colon using a machine), and have access to the spa.

There are also health classes that teach you how to make raw juices, and give you some explanations that will help you point out the unhealthy habits you have been doing as well as how you will feel when you can manage to get rid of them. Prices vary from 150 USD to 2700 USD, depending on the program. They may look expensive, but in fact, these programs may be a lot cheaper than the same kind of programs you may find anywhere else. One of the reasons, is because the majority of these prices also include your accommodation. Moreover, you can have the program as you like, meaning you can always remove (or add) a certain treatment, and the money will be deducted from the charges.

Rooms with nice surroundings

The hotel is open for everyone, and if you don’t take any of the rejuvenating programs, it will cost you 75 USD (for a ‘Zen’ cottage), including the vegetarian breakfast you can order from their menu. Rooms are clean and chic, and they are nicely set to make you feel as close to nature as possible. You will stay in a wooden room with wooden furniture, and you can see greeneries at almost every angle from the room due to the glassed walls, windows, and doors. If you stay in a ‘Zen’ cottage, you can listen to the sound of the small river located right in front of the room. It’s nice to hear the background sound of the waterfall during your sleep with the native creatures, like the croaking frogs, crickets, and geckos!

There is a veranda at each cottage with some chairs overlooking either the pool or the paddy fields next to the resort. Mosquitoes aren’t a big issue as there is a mosquito net over the bed to prevent you from mosquito bites. Room service is excellent. Every morning, your room will be cleaned with a fresh set of towels, and bottled water. Free laundry service is provided if you follow 1 of the 6-day programs. You can have your clothes washed and returned within 24 hours, which is a good thing since you don’t need to bring too many clothes with you!

High occupancy

Many people intentionally stay in this resort for the ‘health vacation’, but others only stay to enjoy the resort’s peaceful ambience. Anyway, if you decide to take it, due to the resort’s high occupancy, it’s recommended that you book a room prior to your arrival, especially if you plan to stay during the weekends. So, what are you waiting for? Book your room now!
