Hostal Bejar is a simple, no-frills, reasonably-priced family-run guesthouse in the Sants-Montjuic part of Spain’s captivating and colourful city of Barcelona. If you’re looking for a luxurious place to stay, this won’t be what you are looking for.

If, however, you want a clean and comfy base from which to explore the city’s highlights without breaking the bank, Hostal Bejar could be ideal! With a good choice of eateries within just a few paces, a short walk to metro stations, and a bustling market in the immediate vicinity, here’s what a stay at Hostal Bejar offers:

A choice of rooms to suit different group sizes

With a total of 22 rooms, Hostal Bejar has basic rooms available for one, two, or three people.

Solo adventurers can stay in a single room, with a shared bathroom, for around 35 EUR (approximately 39.50 USD) per night.

If you’re travelling with another person, but want the cheapest room available, the twin room with a single bathroom is perfect. Costing around just 53 EUR (approximately 60 USD), it’s quite a bargain by Barcelona’s prices. For more comfort and convenience, twin rooms are also available with a private bathroom, costing around 63 EUR (approximately 71 USD) for a night’s stay. Solo travellers who would like a private bathroom can also book this room type, and a small discount is provided for single occupancy.

Triple rooms have a private bathroom and cost around 76 EUR (approximately 85.50 USD) for a night. Split three ways, that’s a pretty good price!

Recharge your batteries in a comfortable room

The rooms at Hostal Bejar may be basic, but they offer a comfortable place to lay your head, catch up on sleep, and keep your belongings during the daytimes when you’re out exploring.

Beds are reasonably comfortable, and towels are provided. Central heating and air-conditioning help to ensure you feel just right, no matter what the season.

Although the rooms are fairly small, you won’t be tripping over your baggage thanks to a clothes rail, complete with hangers, and a luggage rack. Additional storage space is provided by way of a cupboard and drawer underneath the bedside cabinet and drawers underneath the desk. Each room has a desk, a chair, and a long mirror. You can access free Wi-Fi throughout the property.

Do note, however, that the walls in the property are incredibly thin. This may be problematic if you are a light sleeper or noise sensitive. You can hear all small noises from the next room, from toilets being flushed and low-level chatter, to bags being zipped up and people snoring.

High standards of cleanliness

Perhaps somewhat unusual for a fairly-small guesthouse, rooms are cleaned and tidied each day by the housekeeping staff. Beds are made, bins are emptied, toilet rolls are replenished, and fresh towels are provided.

The bathrooms, both private and communal, are kept shiningly clean. The water pressure in the hot-water showers is powerful, and hand soap is provided. There may be a few chips and cracks here and there, and the guesthouse is probably in need of some renovations, but if you’re not planning on spending too much time in the room other than for sleeping, it shouldn’t pose a problem.

Twenty-four hour reception across the street

A member of staff is available on reception right around the clock, meaning that you can check-in at any time you like. The reception is located just a few steps away from the main accommodation building, on the opposite side of the street. Both the accommodation building and the building that houses Hostal Bejar’s reception are well marked.

Members of staff can assist with local information and recommendations, and there is a selection of information leaflets and city / metro maps available.

The door to the main building is kept locked at all times, and guests have a key for the main door as well as for their individual room.

Save some euros and have a great time exploring Barcelona from the reasonably-priced and well-located Hostal Bejar.
