Popular also as Bin Zaid, this cultural center is located in Doha. Its unique minaret design and spiral mosque make it an outstanding curiosity. It offers innumerable things to see and learn, for instance, spoken and written Arabic and knowledge about Islamic culture and visitors get to see the tallest mosque in all of Qatar.

Also, there are members of the cultural organization who familiarize non-muslim visitors with Islam. Burj Doha was formerly known as “Burj Qatar”. It is a specimen of exemplary architecture. Everyone who’s seen it would notice that the building’s structure has a “phallic form” - one unique aspect that sets the building apart from others. Besides, its location in the West Bay, with the seaside also present, adds more to the overall impression it leaves on the tourist. Inside the building, one finds top-notch facilities. There are smoke zones and clean restrooms among many other things. Visiting Burj Doha at nighttime is one of the best things to do in Qatar. It is after dark that the unique-looking building lights up the bay in amazing colors.

3. Doha Exhibition and Convention Center - DECC

If international exhibitions interest you, DECC has got to be your next stop. Throughout the year, it conducts great exhibitions of commodities related to fashion, defense, industrial equipment, and many other things. The building has 5 different halls to hold many programs at once, a good, spacious lobby and a cozy coffee corner. It has a game area for kids, auditoriums where concerts are held, and prayer rooms. The toilets and the rest of the places are kept super clean. On the opposite side of the building is a mall if by caprice one decides to go shopping. The center is next to a metro station which is why it’s a lot easier to reach.

4. Aspire Tower

This tower is also known as the Torch Doha. This tower, standing 300 meters or 328 yards tall, once served as the focal point for the 15th Asian Games hosted by Qatar in December 2006. Its impressive exterior comprises a steel mesh containing a concrete core with a top that looks like a torch. The tower boasts a five-star hotel, a sports museum, and a health club with a cantilevered swimming pool. There is an observation deck from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of the city; and imagine this: the tower features a restaurant that revolves! This is truly one of the greatest attractions in the city and a must-visit for every tourist.

5. National Museum of Qatar

The desert rose exterior of this museum is absolutely astounding. It has beautiful light-filled spaces and amazing galleries. Organized in three segments - “Beginnings”, “Life in Qatar”, and “The Modern History of Qatar” the museum showcases these themes across the eleven highly individual galleries. It’s a fresh break from the typical theme parks and resorts since fossils, models of planets, birds, animals, and several paleontological specimens are put on display in showcases and on screens. There are amazing games to add to your kids’ fun. One can find souvenirs to buy from the two gift shops in the museum. It also has restaurants on the ground floor. The entry fee is satisfactorily reasonable (50 Qatari Riyals ~ 14USD) and the ticket remains valid for three days. Heartily recommended by the locals, this museum is the best place to go to, especially with family and kids.

6. Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art is built on an island near the dhow harbor. The building is surrounded by a park and two bridges that connect the park with the main peninsula. The museum boasts several ancient manuscripts, ceramics, and textiles but has one of the world’s most complete collections of Islamic artifacts and items like jewelry, rugs, bowls, torch stands, etc. originating from several foreign countries. The museum holds workshops for schools and the general public. It also houses a library with nine study rooms, a coffee shop, and a restaurant from where one can cheer themselves with a pleasant view of the Doha skyline.

The space around this marvelous edifice is left vacant to add to its beauty. It has a huge parking lot to accommodate over a thousand cars. 9. Qatar World Trade Center


Qatar world trade center has a building of over fifty floors and another building that houses an auditorium and a business center, besides a low-rise building that has a convention center. Among other things, it includes office spaces, business clubs, floors for conferences, and a parking lot that has ample parking space.

10. Al Koot Fort

Known also as Doha Fort, this fort was earlier a police station, and it also served as a jail. It has now been converted into a museum that exhibits handicrafts, ornaments of gypsum and wood, antique fishing equipment, boats, and oil paintings illustrating the lives of laymen of earlier times.
