The flea markets have a deep history in Louisiana. The French term, “marche aux puces” translates to “flea market” in English. It was believed that the old items that were sold and bought came with fleas. In Louisiana, flea markets are a dime a dozen. Its former French conquerors instilled the flea market culture in the locals. In 1962, the French named this southern state after King Louis XIV. Their love for the arts, antiques, and fine architecture are French influences that still exist today. Visit the New Orleans French Quarter flea markets and you’ll find all the lovely vintage French Colonial furniture that was left behind. You’ll find more antiques and collectibles from hundreds of sellers located at Baton Rouge, all the way to Shreveport. Just be sure to secure your lodgings first and choose among the top camper rentals or Airbnbs with pool for your accommodation.
