A casual and affordable wine tasting

For only a small fee (10 USD at my time of visit), you can taste several different wines in the downstairs tasting area. At my time of visit, I tasted four delicious wines: two white, a rose, and a red. Throughout the tasting, the knowledgeable staff described the flavors and notes, such as oak and cherry, that you’ll taste in each wine. Many of the flavors are unique due to the soil that the grapes are grown in and the barrels the wine is stored in.

After the tasting, you can choose to purchase a bottle of their delicious and affordable wine to enjoy on their grounds, or at home. I appreciated that there was no rush during the tasting and that I wasn’t pushed to purchase anything at all.

Saltwater Farm Vineyard opens for the season on April 15. You can enjoy a tasting on Wednesdays through Sundays. Check their website (below) for opening hours and special events. Note that reservations are not required, except for on Saturdays.

Have a romantic picnic with a bottle of wine

Although Saltwater Farm Vineyard doesn’t offer any food, you can bring your own meal to enjoy on their grounds. Consider getting takeout from one of the great area restaurants such as Mystic Market, Pita Spot, or Mystic Pizza. For the perfect date, I recommend bringing food, sitting down at one of the picnic tables, and purchasing a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal.

If you purchase a bottle of wine, the helpful staff will open the bottle for you and offer you glasses to enjoy your drink from. Just be sure to return the glasses when you are done.

During my afternoon wine tasting and date at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, I found the venue and grounds to be an incredibly romantic place, ideal for an outdoor date!

Beautiful grounds that are perfect for events

Consider your next large event sorted with the help of Saltwater Farm Vineyard. Weddings and other events can be hosted in their indoor and outdoor space. This is a beautiful location for a wedding or anniversary, and they have ample parking to fit your entire party.

There is an indoor space that is beautifully designed with dark wood and wine aging barrels, with an upstairs, downstairs, and large dance floor. Saltwater Farm Vineyard was even rated ‘Top 50 Most Romantic Wedding Venues in the U.S.’ by Bride’s Magazine. I’d have to agree with Bride’s Magazine, I could easily imagine a gorgeous wedding here. During my visit, I saw a bride setting up for her weekend wedding!
