2. Kumagera


Operating since 1980, Kumagera is named after the bird of Furano - the black woodpecker. Elements of its decor also pays tribute to the history of Furano’s development. Stones of varying sizes found in the restaurant and on its walls are stones which were collected from fields in Furano. These are significant because they were a hindrance during construction in the early days. Here at Fukuzushi, the bigger the better! Known for their jumbo-sized sushi, Fukuzushi allows their dinners to request a rice portion upsize if they are feeling extra hungry that day at no extra cost. This means, though, that the protein of the sushi still remains the same portion. Other than sushi, they also serve rice bowls, including oyakodon (chicken), unadon (eel), and chirashi. After your main course, order some green tea ice cream or shiratama zenzai (sweet red bean soup with mochi) to round up your meal!
