If you want to travel with good friends, but find that hotel fees are expensive, or that you don’t want to get too rowdy with such a big group, or you are trying to be considerate of others.

A stay at a cottage is a way to remove all those worries. What about reservations?

At that time I came across a tour company’s pamphlet. I didn’t know you could make reservations through tour companies! Early planning is key to trips with large groups of people. Gathering as much info as you can is vital.

The Canadian Cottage's of World Village

World Village located in Tomitabayashi in Osaka is built next to World Farms where you can get up close and personal with various animals.

10 people can stay at a cottage. This time there were 13 of us travelling so we rented 2. The rooms were on some expansive grounds. After receiving the keys from the front desk, standing in front of the rooms your heart skips a beat. Why? Because you are about to stay in 2 luxurious cottages.

Opening the doors to the cottage…

Each cottage can hold up to 10 people.

On the first floor is a twin bedroom and a Japanese room. As well as a spacious living room, a bath and toilet. On the second floor are 6 of the most comfortable beds. Your heart races from the vaulted ceilings. Picking out which bed you want is really a joy.

Only an hour away from central Osaka, it is perfect for those in the group who have to arrive late because of work and what not. A place where even late comers can have fun together with the rest of the group is really important.

BBQ for dinner and a bath in the natural hot springs Ichinoyu to relax.

Fireworks, a drinking party, anything you want

If front of the cottage is a terrace with a large table.

From the terrace you can see the plains area of Osaka. The night view will take your breath away. Watching the view at night you are reminded that you aren’t that far away from Osaka city. Such a nightscape is bound to steal your heart.

Because we rented 2 cottages, we could set off fireworks, or have a drink in the cool breeze between the two cottages without having to worry about getting in trouble from anyone. The fun keeps going…

A breakfast of freshly laid eggs

The next morning, everyone picked some freshly laid eggs and had breakfast at the breakfast cottage. Some were at the mercy of last night’s alcohol but most were doing fine. After enjoying these fresh eggs with raw eggs over rice or bacon and eggs, we checked out.

Gold fishing!?

gold fishing!?

We head to World Farms.

Out of the different experience you can have here, such as horseback riding, petting the cats, or feeding animals the best by far, and this being probably the only place where you can do this, was fishing for Japanese gold fish.

Literally it’s fishing for gold fish. Not the time honored festival game of scooping out gold fish with a paper disk, but actually fishing with rod and hook. The same sized fish that you see at those festivals! It definitely was the first time I saw this, but it was definitely fun once you start.

At first it was only me that was fishing but soon all the members of the group started gathering around, and each had their turns. It looks deceivingly easy.

Conclusion

A small group trip is fun but when you do travel with a large group it’s a different kind of fun. How you have fun depends on how you can create an atmosphere where you don’t have to worry too being too considerate of others.

Who knows, you just might be able to have a fun trip if you just ask travel agencies or cottages.
