Not only do we love them for their dedication to halal cuisine, but the portion sizes are big and everything is fairly priced. If you’re in Kyoto and looking for a hearty, halal-friendly meal, then this food joint is a must-visit.

Split in half, this place is equal parts restaurant and imported food supermarket. It is also a great place to enjoy halal food before doing some shopping. They have Muslim staff, but it is worth noting that alcohol is served on-site. With regular belly dance and drum performances, you can enjoy a full show while you relish the authentic tastes of your meal. Rather than alcohol, we recommend ordering the lassi - it’s delicious.

Less of a restaurant, this is more of a grab-and-stand food venue. You can order a number of different kebabs and then eat them at the side of the venue. Please remember not to eat and walk while in Japan - it’s considered rude. This stop is popular not only for its excellent food but also for its location. It’s in the heart of the market area of Kyoto so you can easily stop by as you’re doing your shopping - perfect if you need an energy boost. As a side note, this spot also serves bottled alcohol.

This delicious restaurant received its halal certification in 2016 and has been offering exceptional meals ever since. Located in the beautiful area of Arashiyama, it’s a great spot for lunch or dinner. Uniquely, the restaurant combines halal food with traditional Japanese cuisine called “washoku”. Now you can try traditional food with peace of mind! This restaurant quite spacious, but even so, it can still get really busy so be prepared to wait.
