The hiking in Great Falls National Park is probably my favorite in the Washington DC area. If you are looking for a trail that is a little less arduous, you don't have to look far! Right across the river is the C&O Canal National Park which has a flat path that runs along the canal and also offers views of the falls from the opposite side of the river. I definitely recommend both, but be sure to check out the C&O Canal if you are looking for a more leisurely hiking experience!
