A first time guest to the Hotel ZaZa Dallas might be fooled by the smooth lines and Mediterranean exterior as to what country they are in. Upon entering the lobby, striking and thoughtful art grabs your attention. It looks as if an artist designed the lobby area to be an art museum. Looking up and to the right are two ivory-colored human statuary eying a large suspended birdcage turned light fixture. A canopy bed strung with tiny white Christmas lights stands next to the reception desk as an unorthodox place to sit a spell. And what a spell Hotel ZaZa will cast upon you. There will be enough time to gaze at the art; it’s time to check in.

The low-key, but efficient staff attend to your every need on your arrival. After checking in, before heading to your room, it will be difficult to avoid lingering in the lobby to observe the artworks up close. Most of the lobby art is of human faces in one medium or another. It’s hard to say which display will hypnotize you first. All of the art in ZaZa is from the hotel owner’s private collection and a fine one at that. You will find art almost everywhere in the hotel but observe the way ZaZa takes a hotel stay to a higher level making their hotel experience an art form of its own.
