Arthur’s Pass Village is a township in New Zealand’s South Island that boasts an enviable location amid the Southern Alps. A scenic drive along State Highway 73 will take you to this modest village, where devotees of Mother Nature will have the time of their lives. One of the most rewarding hiking trails is Arthur’s Pass Walking Track, which leads to Arthur Dudley Dobson Memorial. Since you’ll be on an elevation of 739 meters (2,424.5 feet), expect a spectacular view of the town and the surrounding mountains. Devil’s Punchbowl Waterfall, a 131-meter (430-feet) waterfall is also a stunning sight. Skiing enthusiasts should visit around mid-June to October for a memorable experience in the alps. Keen on camping? Pitch your tent at Avalanche Creek Shelter campground for convenience and proximity to attractions. If you’d prefer more cozy accommodations, below are the best huts near Arthur’s Pass Village, New Zealand.

1. The Moa Cabin in Jacksons (from USD 83)

Booking this cabin will allow a group of four free access to Ngarimu Walking Track, where they can explore a native rainforest and take a dip in a waterfall. Guests will also find a walking trail that leads to a historic 1860’s quartz mine, where they’ll find old relics. Lovers of nature will find this area to their liking, with birdsongs to wake them up in the morning and glimpses of kiwis to brighten up their day.

At the end of your outdoor adventures, head to the clean, well-maintained bathrooms for your grooming needs, then cook a meal in the nice shared kitchen where you can meet other campers in the area.

After eating and socializing, return to your cozy cabin with its three comfortable beds and rest well for another exciting day ahead. If sleep is elusive, take a seat on the deck and just stargaze until dawn.
