Inamo - Savour Pan-Asian Cuisine With A Serving Of Tech In London

Published Mar 15, 2016

Are you ready for pan-Asian cuisine with an unusual technology twist? Well, head over to Inamo which offers cuisine that is inspired from Japan, China, Korea and Thailand in stylish surroundings with intimate seating and ambient lighting.

There are few places in the world where you can have a truly interactive dining experience and Inamo most certainly offers you that in abundance.Thinking about finding entertainment to go with your dining experience? Well, don’t bother as Inamo will provide you with excellent cocktails, some good food and entertainment throughout your lunch or evening meal.

Looks can be deceiving

Inamo

Based at 11-14 Hanover Place in Covent Garden, Inamo looks like a regular restaurant from the outside but once you step inside, you will see how unusual and different it really is; this is the type of place that you could spend hours in without getting bored (with or without dining companions).

With a tablet-based ordering system, you are immediately wrapped in the beauty of technology from the moment of placing your order. Cardboard menus are not on offer at this savvy and forward-thinking establishment that wants you to have a different experience. Fancy having all the control when deciding what to eat and when? Inamo definitely delivers on this front. You no longer need to catch a free waiter to place your order; you have all the power at your fingertips (literally)!

Play ‘ping pong’ whilst your food is prepared

Do you ever find that when you rock up to a restaurant and you’re absolutely starving, all you want is a way to help pass time whilst you wait for your food? Well, fear not as you most certainly will be occupied at Inamo. The interactive table has a number of games available, including ping pong.

In the instance that your hunger pangs can no longer wait, you don’t even need to speak to the waiting staff to find out what’s happening with your meal. You can check the, “chef cam” and see if your meal is being prepared. I absolutely love this option and it reminds me very much of some glamorous London restaurants that include a “chef’s table” in the kitchen where diners can watch as their food is being prepared. Without having the exorbitant charges associated with sitting at a “chef’s table”, diners at Inamo can have a quirky and somewhat similar experience.

The technology experience at Inamo doesn’t stop at ordering the food, playing games and checking out the chef. In fact, you can personalise your experience by changing the “table cloth” and even requesting in advance to have specific pictures (such as of you and your fellow diners) to be displayed on the table! This is fantastic if you’re celebrating a special occasion.

Tapas food or fabulous cocktails?

Once you’ve become accustomed to all the technological features of your table, your food will start rolling out of the kitchen. Most of the food is tapas style so you will need to order several dishes if you’re hungry. However, by having a tablet to place your order, you can do it so quickly and easily. During my visit, I ordered the silky red tofu and the Thai red curry with rice, which was tasty. However, what really stood out were actually the cocktails which were simply fabulous. I have to admit that the beverages were slightly better than the food.

Do the gadgets detract from the human company?

Being entertained by an iPad and an interactive table whilst sipping cocktails can certainly help to pass time. However, and during my experience at Inamo, I started thinking about whether human company was even required as one could be entertained by all the gadgets!

My conclusion is that the technology made the dining experience eventful; however, having wonderful and warm company to share it with made it memorable. The tech-savvy table in a wonderful setting enhanced my interaction with my fellow diner and I would recommend that you share the Inamo experience with others.

Inamo is unique and really should not be experienced alone. Take someone special; treat them and enjoy a remarkable and modern experience. I know that my fellow diner felt special, whilst he was clicking on the iPad and checking out all the functionalities of the interactive table, whilst listening to me babble, and I am confident that others will feel the same with you.

The average cost for a three-course meal including beverages for two persons is approximately 80 GBP - 100 GBP (114 USD -142 USD) and it’s worth it if you’re fascinated by technology and having an out-of-the-ordinary time. When you’ve finished munching, playing games and sipping cocktails, book a taxi through the interactive tablet so that you can head home in style.
