You cannot explore Mumbai without visiting one of its most iconic locations, Juhu Beach. It might now rival the beaches in the Caribbean, but it’s a great spot to enjoy the sunset over the Arabian Sea. The 6-km (3.7 mi) long beach stretches all the way up to the suburb of Versova, where its shore is primarily rocky. Juhu beach is one of the most popular gathering spots for Mumbaikars, who flock there to munch on their favorite street food, indulge in adventure activities, and take in the beautiful views. The beach comes alive during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, when the idols are immersed in the water there. So if you’re planning to visit Mumbai anytime soon, Juhu beach should be included in your itinerary. For your convenience, here’s our comprehensive guide to Juhu Beach, Mumbai. Feel free to browse below.

Enjoy water sports

Juhu Beach is a prime spot for indulging in a range of thrilling water sports. These include banana boat rides, jet-skiing, parasailing, and even bumper boat and fly fishing rides. If you’re interested in indulging in a whole lot of water thrill, then go for the ride packages such as the three-ride or the five-ride package. However, if you’d rather choose the rides, then the price per ride is 200 INR (2.7 USD).

Relax on the beach and eat street food

There are few places that rival the street food scene of Juhu Beach. In fact, the sandy stretch features stalls with every street food you can expect to eat in Mumbai. These include everything, from pav bhaji and chat to vada pav, Mumbai’s quintessential and original street food item. However, the one thing that you shouldn’t miss having is the cold and vibrant ice golas. They’re like upturned ice popsicles, in a gamut of flavours and served in a glass; they’re absolutely delicious.

Indulge in physical activities

If you’re a fitness freak, then head to Juhu beach early in the morning. You’ll see lots of people who come here for cycling, skipping, jogging or walking. What’s more, you might even see a few yoga or Zumba sessions being conducted on the beach. If a sun-kissed morning workout session by the sea is what you like, then Juhu Beach is the place for you. However, make sure you come early, as the place gets crowded by 8am. If you want quietude, then head to the southern end of the beach.

Best time to visit

Juhu beach is most crowded on weekends, but it’s also when it comes alive with food stalls, carnival-like rides, and more. However, if quietness and solitude are what you prefer, then the place is best visited on the weekday evenings.

Avoid littering

In recent times, a lot of effort has gone into keeping Juhu Beach clean, so avoid littering. Also, if you’re visiting the Versova area of Juhu beach, then don’t walk on the boulders since they’re very slippery.

Anti-social elements and activities

Sometimes, there might be anti-social elements that might be roaming around the beach. Notwithstanding whether the place is crowded or not, it’s best to keep away from them at all times.
