Situated amongst 400 acres of beautiful English countryside, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is a four star luxury retreat. Located 91 km, approx. 57 mi from London and only 41 km, approx. 26 mi from Portsmouth, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is perfectly situated. Not only is it the most outstanding golf and spa hotel in Hampshire, it offers a stunning backdrop for your big day. The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is perfect for those spending a romantic weekend away or those who are just passing through.

Lavish interior and Hollywood glamour

After a brief journey up the winding driveway, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is a view of elegance and sophistication. Entry into the reception is simply spectacular with its dark wood, extravagant lighting and magnificent wall of fame. Eccentric arm chairs are scattered throughout the hotel and really add a contemporary, yet quirky feel to the place. Upon check-in, (if you’re not still admiring the décor), the reception team are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to assist you.

Elegant rooms and exceptional comfort

With a choice of rooms depending on your budget and needs, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel rooms are elegant and spacious with panoramic views of the golf course. Every room has free WiFi, a plasma TV and cosy towels. Tea, coffee and cookies are provided and the Aero hot chocolate is a pleasant surprise. From experience, waking up refreshed is highly likely as the beds are incredibly comfy – you may even struggle to leave it in the morning. When you do arise from the bed, a delicious buffet breakfast awaits you downstairs.

The more purse friendly superior double room during the week, will cost 99 GBP, approx. 144 USD, but prices do vary at the weekends. For those who want something a little out of the ordinary, why not opt for the four poster rooms. Incredibly grand and unique, this room costs 179 GBP, approx. 260 USD. For those who really want to lap up the luxury, I would suggest the Surrey Penthouse. At the higher end of the scale costing 499 GBP, approx. 726 USD, it is sure to see you spending the night in style!

Do note that disabled rooms are also available. Featuring wider door frames and wet room bathrooms, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel really does cater for everyone. The ensuite bathrooms are fresh, stylish and although not particularly large, they feel very spacious. Cosy towels are provided with lovely toiletries that are ideal for pampering yourself in the evening.

Anyone need some gym motivation?

Modern, spacious and fully equipped with high tech equipment, The Old Thorns Manor Hotel gym is sure to give you the motivation that you’re longing for. With an impressive range of cardio and resistance equipment, along with free weights and TRX straps you will be blown away with the fantastic facilities it has to offer. If the gym is not your thing (although it will be after this one), a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, (you name, they have it) it’s all there. The never ending list of health facilities provided is truly incredible and is guaranteed to have you working up a sweat!

Treat yourself to peace and tranquillity

If you’re in need of some pampering and down time, then the spa is the place for you. Greeted by lovely trained therapists, the spa is the perfect getaway for some peace and tranquillity whilst indulging in luxurious treatments. It is advised to arrive 15 minutes before your treatment to give you some time to de-stress and relax. If a few treatments isn’t enough, why not enjoy one of the many spa days available – the afternoon tea and spa is an absolute dream!

Cocktails or carvery?

The Old Thorns Manor Hotel has an impressive collection of bars and restaurants. Whether you want to enjoy a beer in the Sports Bar, or dress up for a cocktail in the Atrium Champagne Bar, there is something for everyone’s taste. The exciting menu varies from English pub grub to a more sophisticated palette of steaks and my personal favourite, tuna hot plates. A popular favourite, and for good reason, is the carvery in the Kings Carvery restaurant. Fill your plate high with Yorkshire puddings, excessive amounts of meat and maybe a sprout or two – an English favourite and absolutely delicious.

Not quite finished lapping up the luxury?

If a night at The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is leaving you wanting more, perhaps spend the following day on their award winning golf course designed by former golf star, Peter Alliss. Or enjoy some friendly competition on the outside tennis court.

Due to its fantastic location, you could always pop out for a few hours and visit Hollycombe to experience old fashioned fairground rides – I promise, it’s not just for kids. Or, if leaving the hotel doesn’t appeal to you, enjoy a light stroll around the beautiful countryside before heading inside for a delicious latte at Starbucks.
