Lying along some of the most beautiful coastlines of the Balkans, Montenegro offers stunning seaside destinations for couples and travelers from all the world. As there are many good bus connections from Podgorica to other towns, most visitors often pass by Podgorica and spend just a night here while crossing throughout the country. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should stay at Montenegro Hostel Podgorica when traveling in the capital city:
Outdoor space
As you walk in the building, you will notice the massive nice area surrounding the hostel, with the Morača River flowing through the entrance of it. On the side of the hostel, there’s a big yard where you can sit and chill, smoke or enjoy a meal, and have a chat with other guests and staff.
Friendly staff
Though I checked in at almost midnight, the receptionist was still very welcoming. He gave me a city map and went through important attractions in town for me to see the next morning. The general atmosphere at the hostel is very friendly and open so it will be easy to ask for any help you needed. After checking out you can also leave your important belongings in the reception so they can look after your stuff.
Excellent facilities
There are computers, air-conditioning and a flat-screen television for guests’ use in the common area. High speed Wi-Fi connection is available through the whole building. Each room is equipped with private lockers. Free linen and towels are also included in the price. My personal favourite feature of the facilities was the extra comfy shower room with its modern sink, toilet and shower that make you feel like you are staying in a hotel. There are beds in a mixed 6-bed dorm, mixed 8-bed dorm, as well as double rooms and triple room. The dorms are located on the second floor so you won’t even be bothered if there’s a party downstairs in the common space.
Unique add-on breakfast for free
One of my favourite things I experienced during my stay here was their excellent breakfast with Bosnian pastries with several different fillings inside, including ham and jam, and served with local yoghurt. Tea and coffee are also available for you to make for yourself at no further charge. Breakfast time is between about 8 AM and 10 AM. It’s also possible to use the kitchen to make your own meal in their fully-equipped kitchen.
Other valuable benefits
There are also several other branches of Montenegro Hostel running in other cities within the country, where you can enjoy a 10% discount after staying at one of them. Lying within the old town of Podgorica, Montenegro Hostel is an excellent low-budget accommodation option for backpackers with rates starting from as low as 9 EUR (10.20 USD) per dorm bed during low season.
Must-knows before visiting Podgorica
I would highly recommend passing through Podgorica when visiting Montenegro as it’s cheaper to go from here to other cities in the country than going directly from the nearby countries. Podgorica is a small and modern city with a couple of nice attractions to visit around the Old Town, including the Millennium Bridge, Gorica Hill, and several parks with a relaxed and green atmosphere that you cannot usually find in other capital cities. Book your stay at Montenegro Hostel Podgorica for a comfortable base in the capital of Montenegro.
