Monterey, once the capital of northern California, has long been an important destination. Today, the city is a popular resort town for its incredible scenery. There is an abundance of marine wildlife worth exploring at spots such as Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Breakwater Cove. Additionally, destinations such as Pebble Beach are a delight for sun-seekers, with rugged coves and a sprawling seaside attracting crowds by the hordes. You can hitch drives through neighbourhoods such as Monterey State Historic Park and Cannery Row, and admire some stunning heritage buildings. And, if you are a fan of historic architecture, we suggest you must not miss out on the experience of staying at one of the top-notch historic hotels in the city. Listed below are the top historic hotels in Monterey, California, that you can scroll over and book now.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) properties with historic significance, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. 3. Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa (from USD 197)

What is now Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa was originally built to serve as a private residence for Spanish diplomat Don Estéban Munras in 1824. The house, named La Granja, was carefully constructed using handmade adobe bricks and native construction materials.

While the private residence was transformed into a hotel in 1941, you can still see the part-original structure in the adobe walls of the Marbella meeting room on-site.
