There are a great many reasons for visiting the capital and the largest city in the US state of Georgia. This former Olympic host-city boasts plenty of great sights. Indeed, it is home to the impressive Centennial Olympic Park, which was built for the 1996 summer games and is the location of the colossal Georgia Aquarium, which boasts 120,000 animals and is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Atlanta Botanical Garden with its exotic plants is another popular spot. And, of course, Atlanta is home to one of the most popular drinks on the planet - the mighty Coca-Cola. Its close links with the cola giant are celebrated at the World of Coca-Cola museum. Those craving more cultural attractions will also find works from the likes of Rembrandt in the High Museum of Art. And then there’s the social scene - such as Buckhead with its mix of Southern eateries, top malls, and nightspots. Everything from Britney Spears covers to Ignition can be heard on the pianos. The venue also plays host to full band music, live acoustic acts and DJs too. This busy and popular nightspot, which is open four days a week, is also located in the Buckhead area of the city and can accommodate up to 180 people across its two levels and patios. It also features a range of stylish private and semi-private rooms. These include the likes of the classy Pavilion, and Marilyn’s Retreat (a homage to Marilyn Munroe), and will likely appeal to groups of friends who would like to enjoy their own space. The main club itself is home to a full stage and regularly welcomes live bands - including occasional piano-based acts - while the lower-level speakeasy-style bar boasts of an open-air kitchen serving everything from Cajun cream shrimp pasta to a chicken fried rice bowls and classic communal fares like fried wings and chicken tenders.

3. Campagnolo


If it’s a sit-down meal and a more relaxed atmosphere you’re after, then this midtown restaurant and bar may be the option for you. Its rustic Italian menu and decor features a range of Mediterranean dishes - and wines to boot - and it is open for dinner every night of the week (as well as brunches on the weekend). And, as for the all-important live music, the eatery hosts artists in the bar every Friday and Saturday night from 10 pm to 1 am. Naturally, this opens up the possibility that you might wish to visit for a meal and then stay late enjoying the music. It’s a popular venue though - with a good reputation to match - so you may wish to make a reservation. Past guests were fans of the atmosphere, service, and the food (which includes gluten-free and vegetarian options). And, if the weather is nice, there’s an outdoor patio with seating in which to enjoy the evening air.

Come for the food but stay for the music! Famed within Atlanta for the tastiness of its steaks, Hal’s The Steakhouse has been a fixture on the city’s food and bar scene for three decades. In fact, it has become something of an institution thanks to its popular menu of American and seafood dishes. It has won fans for its self-professed “easy elegance” and also earned plaudits from the press for its “easy Southern vibe… and a rooftop patio overlooking the street”.
