Being a foremost luxury hotel in Okinawa, wouldn’t you like to come here to take a few days off and live like a celebrity? Located on Cape Busena The Terrace Club at Busena features facilities for Thalassotherapy, and promises an upscale time. Thalassotherapy is a method in which you are immersed in an oceanic climate, and uses sea water and seaweeds to rejuvenate you. It is used widely in the French seaside resorts.

Each room is 54 square meters, and provides a luxurious ocean view

After checking in at the elegant front desk situated on a terrace overlooking the sea you are shown to your room. There are 4 types of rooms here but each is very spacious with 54 square meters of space, and are decorated in simple but natural fashion. It is also uniquely laid out where there is no wall between the bath and bed rooms. (if need be you can have these separated with walls)

The image is of the “Club Deluxe Ocean” room. The terrace overlooks all of Nago Bay. You can immerse yourself in a bath while taking in the view of the sea. A pure white comfortable bath robe, beach gown, and night wear are all provided along with shampoo and lotions from Talgo as amenities. Also each room has a kaleidoscope containing sea shells and sand from the beach adding to the resort mood. From the moment you step inside you instantly step into extravagant holiday mode.

After dinner you are greeted with a turndown service and you can rest ASAP, they even replace towels and provide room wear. On the night wear left on the bed is a small card with the message good night and tomorrow’s weather forecast as well as a small candy. You can feel the class in these small details.

Refresh in the Thalasso Bio Pool

The goal for staying here is “Wellness= maintenance and increase of health of the body and soul, through active changes in attitude and activity”. Here they have genuine Thalassotherapy facilities and programs, with the centerpiece being the Thalasso Bio Pool which uses sea water directly pumped in from Cape Busena’s seas. You start off with counseling by a dedicated therapist who develops a program specific to your body type, health, and how long you are staying.

There are 14 zones in the pool, where you feel the buoyancy, do some walking while going against the current, or let water jets massage things like your feet, back, and shoulders. The temperature of the sea water varies between 33 and 36degrees Celsius depending on the zone, in order to get your peripheral nervous system active by going in between these different zones.

After the bio pool, you head to the sauna or the steam sauna called Hamam where you gradually warm your body and finally you are encouraged into tranquility with a spray mist of sea water called Aerosol Napping. At first the counselor teaches you how to use the facilities properly alongside you, after which you follow the program at your own pace. Doing this in the day is great but doing this at night in the bio pool while have a night breeze blowing on you is really relaxing so I recommend it. (Thalasso Bio Pool open from 9:30am to 10pm)

There is also a gym and an exercise studio.

Clean from within with "Wellness sima Cuisine"

While staying here you have the program for Thalassotherapy as well as a beautifully prepared delicious meal that is healthy and made following nutritional science. Normally so called healthy foods don’t look too appetizing or they don’t taste very good, but here it is different.

The restaurant here boasts a marine view and you can have a special course called “Wellness sima Cuisine”. The focus on northern Okinawan Yanbaru ingredients is used for a healthy and nourishing meal. From the amuse bouche to the dessert it is a full course meal yet under 800 calories in some menus. You can order al a carte as well, with each item listing the calories.

The image is of one of the appetizers, made of several types of tomato with an Ogimi Tomato made to look like ravioli. It is almost too pretty to eat.

The breakfast buffet is also healthy and has many options

Breakfast is also held at Fan Dining provided as a buffet. Wellness is the theme here too. There are many types of island vegetables and fruits, each with an explanation card. Items such as Okinawan spinach, island scallion, Peucedanum japonicum, which you usually can’t get are available for taste comparisons.

Also available, whole rice bread, rice flower bread, white omelets, bean salad and soup, hijiki and mozuku seaweeds, and fresh juice.. It really hammers in the importance of breakfast.

Grown up time drifts by poolside

grown up time drifts by poolside

Aside from the bio pool at this hotel, there is a pool right beside the beach just for guest. There are deckchairs for sunbathing, or reading for you to just forget about time. At the poolside bar you can order cocktails or soft drinks and even some finger foods. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to use hotel facilities so you can enjoy a more grown up time here.

You might find yourself sleeping in at such a resort but we urge you to wake up early for a beach side stroll or jogging. You will find some guests enjoying yoga on the beach, driving home the theme of wellness.

The image above is of the poolside at dawn. It is a spectacular view with the azure of the ocean, and the reddening sky. A new day starts in this southern island!
