Marriott recently launched its own effort to support medical workers and individuals battling the COVID-19 pandemic. In the US, Marriott is implementing the “Room for Responders” program. Through the program, medical workers can stay at any Marriott Hotels located in hard-hit areas of the pandemic for free. Eligible medical staff includes those who live in the vicinity or have traveled to the US. Hotels who are included in the program will provide 100,000 rooms to doctors and nurses.
Aside from the “Room for Responders” program, Marriott is also implementing its community caregiver program where eligible healthcare workers can book a room at a Marriott hotel for a discounted rate. This program applies not only in the US but also in Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. To be eligible for a discount, healthcare workers must have been working at a hospital located close to the Marriott hotel where they intend to stay for the night.
Eligible front line workers in the US can stay on any Hilton Hotels at no cost at all. The hotel chain is donating up to a million rooms for doctors and nurses who work tirelessly to combat the pandemic. Rooms are free for medical workers from April 13 to May 31. Medical workers who are eligible for Hilton’s free hotel rooms include those who are part of Hilton’s medical association partners. The growing list of partners can be accessed directly on Hilton’s corporate website.
Travelers who have made a reservation on or before June 30, 2020 may cancel without any further fees. Furthermore, those who have already made a reservation and paid in advance can request for a refund. IHG club members can enjoy various discounts and special promos while they stay any of IHG Hotels during these times.
