The Tiber River is one of my favorite places to visit during Spring! It holds a rich historical significance in Rome. It was central to the city’s foundation myth, with the legend of Romulus and Remus being rescued from its waters by a she-wolf. Throughout the ancient period in Rome, the river served as a vital artery for trade and transportation, connecting the city to the Mediterranean and beyond. Its strategic importance led to the construction of bridges and fortifications along its banks.
Today, the Tiber remains an iconic symbol of Rome, with many of its bridges and historic landmarks of the past still standing. The river continues to flow through the heart of the Eternal City, connecting its past to its vibrant present, open for a beautiful or historic stroll.
