Rosewood Mansion On Turtle Creek is in uptown Dallas yet feels like a visit to a luxurious country club. It is so glamorous that you feel like this might be Beverly Hills, or Saint Tropez, France, not in the middle of Dallas! Although it may seem like a luxurious foreign resort, a down-home Texan style sense of place shows here.

The arrival

Soft peach-colored exteriors calm you upon arrival as the bellmen tend to your luggage. In the lobby, polished staff members greet and guide you on your way to a memorable stay whether it’s your first visit or one of many. If it feels like a billionaire’s home, that’s because it was previously owned by more than one very wealthy family.

Once home to the King family in 1908, it was irreparably damaged in a tragic fire in 1923. Rebuilt in 1925, the King family had to sell the property during the Great Depression. Opened by the new owners, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek welcomed guests to enjoy one of 143 ornate guestrooms in 1981. Now an AAA (American Automobile Association) five diamond rated property, both celebrities and regular people love staying at this former mansion.

Guests appreciate the luxury the King Family began. Meticulously restored interiors are evident in the hand-carved fireplaces, marble floors and stained glass windows. Many of the designer touches were a result of the King family’s European travels. They brought back ideas and materials that have helped shape the mansion even to this day. In the restaurant area, I noticed flooring that reminded me of my travels in southern Spain. I was told that was where the flooring came from and it still radiates style and charm.
