4. Union Station Plaza Shopping Center
Union Station Plaza Shopping Center isn’t your ordinary mall; it’s a historical building rich in culture. Built in 1888, the building first served as a train station connecting people between Boston and Maine. On the 30th of October, 1960, it closed down as a train station and since then, has become a shopping center. The 110,000-square-foot shopping center is constantly being revamped to offer a better shopping experience for its customers. Tenants of the shopping center include Maine Hardware; Portland’s largest hardware store, Sav-A-Lot; a large discount supermarket, Dollar General, and Buckdancer’s Choice Music; Portland’s oldest selling musical instruments store.
