Ahmedabad is a culturally rich city in eastern Gujarat and is popular all over India for its authentic Garba dance and local traditions. Listed as India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad boasts a lovely blend of old-world charm as well as contemporary life. If you’re a science enthusiast like myself, you’ll love visiting Gujarat Science City where you can check out tons of 3D shows as well as the Hall of Space. Other must-visit places in the region include the Sabarmati Riverfront and the park of Kankaria Lake.

Some of my personal favorite things about this lovely city are the overall safe environment, the welcoming locals, and the traditional food of the region. Keep reading for a list of the top spots for best Gujarati food in Ahmedabad, India, and treat yourself to one of India’s lesser-known cuisines.

The restaurant boasts a diverse Gujarati menu, which is served in modest brass plates and cutleries. The servers are also dressed in traditional attire, adding to the overall experience.

I love their all-you-can-eat thali where you can have your plate refilled as many times as you like for a fixed charge. Vegan options are also available upon request.

Are you keen on trying the authentic ancient-Indian dining experience with floor seating and leaf plates and bowls? I’d definitely recommend trying Vishalla, as it is the perfect place to get a hands-on experience with the food and digestive practices of the Indian Ayurveda. Also, the food is extremely fresh and delicious and is light on the human digestive system.

Make sure to visit during lunchtime to try one of their mouth-watering Gujarati thali with buttermilk, traditional vegetables, and much more. After a hearty meal, you can check out their museum to explore a lovely collection of antique utensils.
