If you’re looking for a good local restaurant with a traditional and warm ambiance, Acchija Gujarati Thal is your place to be. The restaurant boasts a diverse Gujarati menu, which is served in modest brass plates and cutleries. The servers are also dressed in traditional attire, adding to the overall experience.
I love their all-you-can-eat thali where you can have your plate refilled as many times as you like for a fixed charge. Vegan options are also available upon request.

Are you keen on trying the authentic ancient-Indian dining experience with floor seating and leaf plates and bowls? I’d definitely recommend trying Vishalla, as it is the perfect place to get a hands-on experience with the food and digestive practices of the Indian Ayurveda. Also, the food is extremely fresh and delicious and is light on the human digestive system.
Make sure to visit during lunchtime to try one of their mouth-watering Gujarati thali with buttermilk, traditional vegetables, and much more. After a hearty meal, you can check out their museum to explore a lovely collection of antique utensils.

3. Gordhan Thal

You can expect very decent food and ambiance in this Gujarati restaurant, which serves unlimited dishes for a reasonable price. And if you’re like me who has a hard time deciding what to order, you’re in for a treat, as Gordhan Thal serves a fixed menu.
In your fixed palette, you can expect to try four to five varieties of vegetables and pulses as well as traditional dhoklas and Gujarati sweets. You can also try authentic Gujarati snacks such as jalebi and Fafda here.

If you’re looking for a low-key yet quality experience in the city, Gopi Dining Hall is a must-try restaurant for you. The place is family-friendly and serves fixed Gujarati and Kathiawadi thalis with a variety of chutneys, salads, and more. Sweet lovers should definitely try their delectable gulab jamuns and curd dishes.
Something that stood out to me here was the professionalism and diligence of the staff. Just a pro tip that if you wish to avoid a heavy crowd, it’s best to visit this restaurant during weekdays.

Rajwadu is a theme-based restaurant with traditional Khatiya bed seating and an open-air ambiance. I love their dining arrangements that capture the essence of an Indian village alongside a lovely pond setting. If you’re traveling in a small group, you can go for their regular thali, which is comprised of local dishes.
Just a heads up that as the restaurant is pretty popular, you can expect some waiting upon arrival. Also, the prices are a little higher as compared to traditional restaurants, but it’s definitely a worthwhile experience.

Another very popular choice in the city for unlimited and fresh Gujarati food is Sasuji Dining Hall. Set in Navrangpura, this restaurant is one of my top recommendations due to its standard food quality and price. You can expect their complete Gujarati thali with a variety of vegetables, traditional sweet pulses, roti, and papad for under 350 INR (4.20 USD).
I visited this restaurant with my family and had an absolutely great time due to the neat and cozy ambiance that makes it a perfect place for a laid-back lunch.

7. The Green House

Popular for its chill and lovely ambiance, The Green House is one of the top spots for good food and great conversations among the youngsters in the city. And if you’re like me who loves a cozy place with laid-back vibes to hangout with friends, this café is just perfect.
You can enjoy a delicious pallet of Gujarati snacks and drinks in the outdoor seating area and simultaneously relish the company of the surrounding trees and plants. I would definitely also recommend checking out the fun zone, which has tons of books and puzzles as well as the open kitchen where you can see your food being prepared.

Another great spot that I recommend for unlimited Gujarati lunch and an authentic dining experience in the city is The Raj Thaal and Restaurant. You can try their fixed thali menu, which serves a variety of vegetables, salads, chutneys, and dhoklas. To end your meal on a good digestion note, make sure to try a glass of their fresh buttermilk.
After a good meal, you can take an afternoon stroll in the outdoor area of the restaurant and enjoy the quiet ambiance around.
