No Need to Leave the Station! Visit Nemuro Hanamaru Sushi-Go-Round
Located inside JR Sapporo Station, Nemuro Hanamaru is a convenient and delicious sushi-go-round restaurant. Often featured in various forms of Hokkaido media, it’s so popular that there is often a line outside. The secrets behind its popularity are simple: fresh seafood and reasonable prices. If it’s really busy guests can expect to wait up to 2 hours, but since it’s inside the station you can leave your name and go shopping while you wait.
Salmon and Fresh Scallops Were the Recommended Plates of the Day!
On the day I visited, Sakura-masu (a variety of salmon) and fresh scallops were advertised as the daily specials. I tried them both, and they were excellent! The salmon had plenty of fat and was delicious, and I was surprised by the size of the scallops. They made me realize that the scallops I’d had until now are actually small. The quality and selection of the fish changes based on the season, but you can enjoy the best as Nemuro Hanamaru is priced to not break the bank.

Visit the All-Natural Sea Urchin Specialty Shop Hakodate Uni Murakami
Next up on the list is this sea urchin specialty shop, Hakodate Uni Murakami. Owned by a sea urchin plant, visitors to this restaurant can enjoy 100% pure, additive-free sea urchin. The atmosphere inside is excellent, an optimum setting for slowly savoring your meal. If you are with family or a group of friends, this is a good chance to try eating in a tatami (traditional bamboo flooring) room. For dinner, a course option is also available.
The most popular item on the menu has to be the uni-don, which uses the fresh and luxurious all-natural sea urchin. It comes plain, or it can be ordered with salmon and/or crab. Half sizes are available for children or people who don’t want as much.

Masterful Seafood Donburi at Donburi Matcha Restaurant in Nijo Ichiba
Lastly, I recommend this seafood donburi (meat over rice) restaurant, called Donburi Matcha. It’s located inside the Nijo Ichiba market. Its most famous item menu is the Maru sen don, which comes with four mini seafood donburi and miso soup. This way, you can try lots of different types of seafood donburi.
And, because they’re open early, you can have it for breakfast! Since it’s located in a market, you can also buy some seafood products to take home to friends and family as gifts (be sure to follow customs guidelines).

The Best Seafood Awaits in Hokkaido
