Are your feet weary, and you can’t bear to hear another explanation about ancient ruins, history or religion? Have you had enough of sightseeing in the Holy Land for a while and are ready for a break? Nahsholim Seaside Resort located 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) north of Caesarea and a 30 minute drive southward from Haifa is just the place for you.
Room with a view
Nahsholim Seaside Resort, located on the grounds of Kibbutz Nahsholim, offers two levels of accommodations. The simpler rooms are reconditioned and refurbished kibbutz cottages offering modest accommodations including en suite bathrooms, amenities such as a kettle and coffee/tea fixings, and a two minute walk to the beach. Rooms are comfortably air conditioned, and many come with a small porch looking out onto a grassy area.
The more deluxe accommodations are the seaview boutique rooms, which are larger, newly decorated, and most importantly are located directly on the sea line with a direct view to the water’s edge, and a walk of no more than 20 seconds from your room to the ocean. This of course comes with a heftier price tag (double) but if you can afford it, a deluxe accommodation is well worth it. The deluxe room comes equipped with an espresso machine as well as sweet treats to go along with your coffee. The bathroom and shower are quite luxurious, and in many of the rooms there is a pampering outdoor shower as well.
The deluxe boutique rooms come with breakfast in a special glassed in building with an unobstructed view to the sea. The breakfast is lavish and includes both hot and cold dishes, a large variety of cheeses, breads, fish, and omelets made to order. Espresso or cappuccino are provided at no extra cost.
The breakfast that accompanies the more modest accommodations is also lovely, and you will certainly not leave hungry. It is served in a room a few minutes away from the beach, and comes with a full range of offerings, most of them identical to what is served at the deluxe breakfast.
While staying at the beach of Nahsholim, there is no real need for any entertainment beyond the sand and the sea. Because of the naturally forming breakers, the sea is almost always calm and suitable for swimming by old and young alike. There are nature trails that follow the coast northward for several kilometers allowing for spectacular views. If, however, you prefer more action and excitement, there is a dive club at Nahsholim with the opportunity to suit up and look at the underwater scenery. While the waters of the Mediterranean are not as clear as the Red Sea, there are some interesting sites below water, particular related to archeology. Additional nearby attractions include the scenic town of Zichron Yaakov, home to both the largest and some of the best wineries that Israel has to offer. A walk down the main street of Zichron, as locals call it, offers a peek into the history of the modern state of Israel. Many of the original houses have been lovingly restored, and the street has the feel of a living museum.
A place to kick back and relax
Nahsholim Seaside Resort is the perfect place to take a vacation from your vacation. Stopping here for a night or two to enjoy the sea, the breeze and the views right outside your door will allow you to recharge your batteries and return to sightseeing refreshed and relaxed. The accommodations are very comfortable, and the view is world-class.
